FREE REFURBISHED COMPUTERS:
These PCs have been donated, refurbished and installed with free, open source software. They run the most current version of the popular Ubuntu linux, an operating system which uses the Gnome desktop environment and is very easy to use. Also installed is the popular Firefox web browser, the OpenOffice suite (compatible with Microsoft Office), as well as software for playing music, videos, burning CDs, etc.
All of these computers are ready for broadband internet service. If you need a dial-up modem, please ask. The PCs do not come with monitors, keyboards, mice, or printers; used ones can be picked up cheaply at places like ReSOURCE, or via FreeCycle. These computers are 100% free of charge, but are given away as is with no guarantees. Technical support can be obtained online through the Ubuntu website.
